I was very low in petrol, the warning light was on so as i started up to go and get some fuel i noticed my engine management light was on.
I had to drive 40 miles with it on last night, it didnt do any harm, anyway this morning while driving it, it went out after about 15mins into the journey.
Whats that all about?
Someone said it may have something to do with the quality of the fuel or even letting the fuel tank get so low.
Any ideas anyone?

Bring it into any parts store that reads engine codes for free. Even though the light went out the code is still stored in memory and a reader will tell you what caused it. As far as it going out since the problem went away the computer reset the light.
As stated get the fault codes read. Could be a faulty O2 sensor (lambda) or MAF (mass air flow meter).
Don’t panic. These bloody things come on and go off when they feel like it. A near stall can put it on. Only time to worry is when it does not go off. There are far too many systems on cars these days monitoring everything. Fuel flow, temperature of everything, pressures etc etc and all these things conspire to put lights on and frighten you. If it turns into a regular occurrence then take it to a garage. Be aware it could cost you over £50 just to get it checked depending on where you take it so shop around.
