where is the speedometer Sensor located on a vw golf 2000 model?

my speedometer isnt working stays on 0mph. the odometer is fine. i heard that if i replace the sensor it will work fine. but i need to know where it is first .

    you will have to pull the dash off to get to it Best thing would be is get a book.

    The VSS (vehicle speed senor) is on top of the transmisson. On the drivers side, straight down the firewall, to the top of the transmission. It is covered with a tin foil looking bag, that has two snaps, holding it on. It protects the sensor from the heat from your exhaust.
