What HP has has this VW Golf got?

I’m interested in a 2000 Golf TDI but don’t know the power rating.

i just rang insurance and they said it is a Golf TDI 90, maing me think it has 90hp. But on TDI badge the D & I are in red and according to wikipedia they came with either 113 hp or 128hp

There are a few variations; 110,115,130,150 and 90 bhp. Yours will be 90bhp if the insurance company say your Golf is the Golf TDI 90.

The first answer is totally correct

if your insurance company says 90bhp then that is what the car will have.

Be prepared for a 0-60 in slow seconds, however, you get the average mpg of 40 plus easily,

I have the 1.8T 150bhp, and manage to get near to 37mpg at best, though I can eek out to 43 at best on a minor small run

the 90 refers to the German measure of power which is PS, so when you look are German cars especially vw/Audi, they use PS. 90 PS is 113BPH which is the British measure.

Ring a Vw dealer give them your reg number and chassis number and they will tell you what Bhp your car actually is.

I have see loads of vw golf 90 bhp in my garage that have 3 red badges as the owners have replace the standard silver ones to try to give the impression that they are of a higher bhp.
I usually just check the engine code which tells me what bhp it actually is so i can then order parts.

Some customers also do this to fiddle the insurance as the higher bhp is a higher insurance group. ie 90bhp ins group 8 110 bhp ins group 10 etc
