VW Golf MK 2 cam belt change?


At what mileage is it recommended that you change the cam belt after? It is a 1.6 Driver by the way – I dont know if that is relevant or not?

    VW has almost universally changed back to a 60,000 mile change interval on their timing belts because of failures of the higher mileage belts and subsequent damage to their engines. Most Golf engines are “interference” engines, and you should have the timing belt driven water pump changed at the second timing belt change along with the tensioner pulley in my opinion.
    The total cost in the States is about $700
