Ithink you can get a grant from the government, but i still think it will set you back around a grand!

We used 1700 vw engines to drive our tanker pumps when decanting co2,we ran them on lpg.you will need various little extras, and the engine will normally run hotter on lpg.On our motors the lpg was gassed using a second stage converter ,part of which was a tube inside the exhaust silencer box.We always had to check the box before startup,if there was a frost line showing we did,nt start it,because it could have exploded.I should imagine the newer systems have cured these early teething problems.Personally i would leave well alone, lpg refuelling is not widespread, and many country garages are now closing because of the supermarket outlets being cheaper.lpg is also a very dirty gas,and leaves a deposit of grey slime in the carburation system,or at least ,it used to do.

    Hi
Is this a 4 cyl water cooled?. If it is a simple kit fitted with a 60 litre tank costs around £995.00 plus the vat,
The tank is fitted under the bed/seat at the rear of the vehicle.
There are no government grants available for Retro fit kits.
You would expect around 19-25 mpg depending how you drive.
Be careful how when and where you get it fitted. You MUST have a certificate of conformity.or it will be a real job to get insurance and be a bugger to sell without.

i know someone who has had 2 cars converted and trouble with both. they were different types of car but both had the same problems i.e tick over and starting. don’t think the grants are available any more.

Take a look at the green fuel website, you can enter the vehicle details and get price for the LPG conversion. Good luck, Cheers Gizz.
